PAKRI Science and Industrial Park, Estonia and Goliath Wind, the Estonian Wind Turbine Technology company has agreed to form a joint venture to install a total of 3 of the new Capella 3.3MW turbines. Those turbines are a part of the continued development of the PAKRI science park towards becoming an Northern-European leading renewable energy competence and laboratory center for the innovative technologies.
The Capella 3.3MW is the next generation wind turbine powered by the unique Cyclos™ one-unit drivetrain, which comprises a highly efficient, easily maintainable and cost effective low speed 16m permanent magnet direct drive ring generator, and thus is an example of the technology tiger jumps required to drive cost of wind energy down.
PAKRI Science and Industrial Park was established in 2007 in cooperation with the Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol with the purpose of offering competitive sites to large energy consumers and energy & environmental technology businesses in a synergistic combination. The installation of the Capella 3.3 wind turbines will provide competitive and sustainable energy to heavy energy consuming tenders in the park. PAKRI will – when fully developed – cover more than 60 hectares.
GOLIATH Wind LLC was founded in 2008 in Estonia and has in close cooperation with leading European universities developed the Capella 3.3MW wind turbine and the Cyclos one-unit drivetrain, both offering competitive pricing and extremely low operational cost. The company will offer its services directly to European customers and to the global market via a network of partners.
