PAKRI Science and Industrial Park in Estonia opened first building

PAKRI Science and Industrial Park for renewable energy, smart-grid technology, energy efficiency in housing and energy storing opened first building in city of Paldiski, Estonia.

The opening tape was cut open for 5000m2 renovated industrial and warehouse building by representatives from Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol, Municipality of Paldiski, Estonian Wind Power Association and NN Arendus Ltd. Opening of the first building marks out first result of PAKRI Science and Industrial Park as a business environment concept, what was developed on 2007 and grows up to 60ha area in the City of Paldiski.

“Last five years we have been working close with our partners elaborating the PAKRI concept, looking for the key client and doing zoning for the whole area” said the manager of the development process Enn Laansoo, Jr, CEO and member of the board, NN Arendus Ltd. in the opening party.

“The entrepreneurship climate and realization of large business projects in near future here in the city of Paldiski, will mean larger upturn in the area. Just opened first building and PAKRI Science and Industrial Park will offer great opportunity for companies who are interested taking part in the upturn” add Laansoo.

The project development in done and service providing is offered together with Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol. “Focusing on renewable energy sector competence mobilizing in Estonia and in Northern Europe has great potential. We want to help PAKRI Park with our competence and experience, to create strong co-operation between companies and universities” said Alar Tamkivi, member of the board, Tehnopol.

“City of Paldiski and municipality is very glad for the opening of the PAKRI Science and Industrial Park and we welcome all new companies, who can see the potential of Paldiski and appreciate our values” said Kaupo Kallas, the Mayor of Paldiski.

PAKRI Science and Industrial Park’s first building, address Kivi str 12, consist of 100m2 to 1300m2 area renovated manufacturing, warehouse and office rooms, offering all needed infrastructure for startup and large companies.

“PAKRI is a wide whole concept, creating synergy between buildings, services, science and energy network. We are moving strongly ahead with our project and are welcoming all to meet with the PAKRI park,” add Laansoo.

PAKRI Science and Industrial Park (PAKRI) concept was worked out in the City of Paldiski on 2007 and since 2008 is one of the priority projects of Harju County’s development strategy for 2025. PAKRI offers all needed infrastructure and services for renewable energy sector companies, supporting trough synergy companies’ sustainable development and R&D.
