Yesterday, 08.10, Europes largest cleantech competition Climate Kic Launchpad grand price went to Estonian company Gleather. 30 countries, 87 companies and grand price 10 000eur went to Gleather.

Gleather has developed a technology to produce gelatin-based leather-like textile using only natural, non-toxic substances. Gleather is made by combining nanotechnology with tanning chemistry to produce material chemically identical to leather. Compared to leather production, fabricating Gleather requires 3 times less raw material. Additionally, it is possible to adjust the characteristics of Gleather, including its texture and strength, to customer´s needs.

Estonia’s greentech startups have won 2 main grand prices in Europe during the last 3 weeks. 20.09 won Polarsol KIC Innoenergy’s grand price 10 000eur and now Gleather Climate Kic Launchpad’s grand price 10 000eur.

CEO of PAKRI was one who saw both of those ideas potential in the very first rounds and provided mentoring support.

Gleather was chosen 30.04 in Greentech Idea day, vt https://pakri.ee/rohetehnoloogia-ideepaeval-sundisid-uued-kliimamuutusi-vahendavad-startupid/
